Development Roadmap

A number of folks have asked about the development roadmap.

Here is a rough first stab at it. Please send feedback.

Development Roadmap

1. Making it easier to standup an instance of NLWeb
   a) Getting the data ready
   i) From existing databases in Wordpress, etc.
   ii) By crawling from a site (and keeping the database updated)

b) Integration into website
i) UI toolkit for dropdown
ii) UI toolkit for card based UI

c) Vector DB implementations for GCP and AWS
c) Storage implementations for GCP and AWS
d) Kubernetes, Railroad, etc. for one click deployment

2. Extending the tools/methods approach to extensibility
   for query analysis

3. Extending both tools/methods and search to use MCP

4. Testing frameworks

5. Move from microsoft/NLWeb to NLWeb/ and setup NLWeb.ai

Great roadmap. it's clear a lot of thought went into this. One thing I'd love to see, if it's within scope, is the addition of some user-friendly tools for data loading. For example, a simple interface where users could drag and drop URLs, documents, PDFs, CSVs, etc., and have that content automatically processed and loaded into the vector database. That kind of functionality could really lower the barrier for non-technical users and broaden the project's appeal.

@oidebrett tht is a good idea. it could also be part of the MCP server interface of NLWeb as tool - then non technical folks can operate the NLWeb server with an MCP client.

Also related: #180 #218 - however seems that architectural refactoring like that are so far only mentioned in this forum and then only discussed Microsoft internally. I hope it is different for this issue.
