Integrating Wake-On-LAN

For me, powering on the TV via WOL directly in this script would be helpful, i.e. do this if the TV is off and the user requests that it be turned on.

Would it be helpful to others to do it in this script? My context doesn't involve HASS, hence my asking here.

Personally I think yes, it is needed for ease of use. I used the wakeonlan module before @nikagl had published his script, it is very straightforward.

I'd be using the Hisense script in combination with Home Assistant and it does provide a Wake on LAN integration. The recommended approach for Home Assistant integrations is to separate the purely device-related logic (authentication, MQTT, etc.) from the HASS-related logic into two projects.

So the WOL functionality could be used on the HASS side only, but obviously then it wouldn't be possible to use this script (the device-related part) to turn on the TV if it is in standby mode.

But, do you have any info on how the new auth system works? As far as I know, as of a few months ago this script does not work for the newest firmware.

We've got Hisense 100Q7N (box model)—all of them are running V0000.08.50U.O1103 and they say this is the latest. This script works without issues, using a random MAC.
