Feature description

Is it possible to implement ability to pause/resume sync in desktop client from command line?
For instance:
nextcloud --pause
nextcloud --resume
It would easily make possible to create global keyboard shortcuts for that.

It would be really useful to have a proper way to do this on all platforms. If you sync folders with a lot of metadata, like an Adobe Lightroom catalog for instance, the amount and frequency of changes can bog down both the client and server and induce errors and potentially corruption due to file locking and other oddities. Having the ability to create a command line hook when launching and closing these types of applications would be an elegant solution.

In my case it's my e-library folder that creates conflicts when I work in it with Calibre... I'd love to be able to create a bash to pause/resume the client sync (windows in my case) when I launch/exit the Calibre app...

Although I've been watching this issue for a long time, I wanted to let my voice be heard, too.
I use the script cited above on Linux to pause/resume synchronisation: as I travel a lot, it's unfeasible to sync over hotel or coworking Wi-Fi, so I pause synchronisation before travelling and resume it upon my return to my place, or when high-bandwidth is available. The script is also triggered by different actions in other scripts, such as before/after updating a decent amount of data (25-50 GB), to avoid unnecessary continuous sync while the data is being updated.

It works fine on Linux, which is my main daily driver, but it doesn't work like that on MacOS or FreeBSD, and I couldn't find a way to send the NextCloud client sync daemon the same command on the other two platforms. (I checked the sources, but I admit I'm not a developer).

It's definitely not an urgent issue, but since "pause" is already implemented in the GUI, I don't think it's a huge effort that is unfeasible to consider.
