Downloaded chapters disappear after restarting the app

Steps to reproduce

1. Choose a series with no downloaded chapters.
2. Open the series' page.
3. Download the chapters.
4. Close the app.
5. Open the app.
6. Open the series' page.

Expected behavior

The downloaded chapters are still there.

Actual behavior

The downloaded chapters disappeared and it's no longer possible to download them, when trying to do so nothing happens.

I don't know if it's the same problem as #2474.

The problem is affecting multiple series, but seemingly not all of them. I haven't noticed a common theme between the affected series.

I did notice the note in version 3.2.2 release notes regarding the titles, however the problem happens for series where I haven't changed the title too (see the video below).

I can confirm that

• this problem has something to do with the series titles,
• this problem affects both series with and without a custom title,
• this problem affects also series with no previously downloaded chapters, and
• the workaround proposed in the release notes for 3.2.2 does not work.

To reproduce the problem:

1. open an affected series and note that no downloaded chapters are shown,
2. change the series' title,
   1. if the series is using the default title - set the title to any custom one,
   2. if the series is using a custom title - reset the title to the default one,
3. trigger the series update by dragging the page down,
4. note that the downloads have appeared,
5. change the series' title back to the initial one,
6. trigger the series update by dragging the page down,
7. note that the downloaded chapters are still there,
8. completely close and reopen the app,
9. go back to the series' page,
10. note that the downloaded chapters are no longer there.

Another update:

I renamed the download directory, to start with a clean slate, and reindexed the downloads.

Then I proceeded to download two series, one using the default title and one using a custom title.

After restarting the app the downloads for both series disappeared and both series are still affected by the reported problem.

Wiping the downloads does not solve the problem.

The two series of the test are:

Few things.

1. When you swipe away and come back. Give it a a bit longer let the library load then check the series. The download cache has to repopulate and its possible because the size of your library its hitting the cache before its populated. That would be one potential fix.

2. In your first video what was the name of the folder in the downloads? On the smaller library i am not seeing this with that same series so currently am leaning towards the issue being the first one.

So delete the folder and chapters, force close app. redownload a couple chapters check the folder name, then wait until library complete loads then go into that series and see if it still has the issue.

The name matches the name shown in the app, which is also the default name in MangaDex, Maid to Skate.

Yes, I always wait for the titles to appear in the library when opening the app before doing anything.

I'm also appending the 30 second pause after the titles have appeared in the library after opening the app.

I am missing a step did it have downloads already or did you download them at some point between 1 and 5

I tried this on a series which is using the default title, has previously downloaded chapters, and has a download directory matching the default title.

I also tried just now deleting the series' downloads directory, reindexing the downloads, redownloading the chapters and then reperforming the steps. Always using the 30 second pause between each action.

The outcome is the same.
