Could not get the project to work ... SOLVED!

Hello

This is an extremely useful tool (once I get it working)!! I was able to get the project to build but it won't execute...

First, I tried installing using pip: (it failed)

Next, I tried to install directly from source (that worked)

Build messages:

But when I try to execute roku it stops as: (my roku is at 192.168.4.110 and accessible. I get the same message even if I just execute "roku" without the ip address.)

Says that the module named 'roku' is not found.

The issue appears to be in the file /usr/lib/python3.13/site-packages/rokucli/cli.py ... line 3 imports "roku" from "Roku"

What am I doing wrong?

To add to the above... I tried installing the roku module manually using "pip install roku" ... but that was not successful either.

Ok - I was able to resolve the above issues ... they are common problems.

I installed python-pipx and used "pipx" instead of "pip" in the install commands. That resolved the issues and the app is running like butter now!

So first install python-pipx (for Arch Linux it is in the "extra" repo) and then ... use :

pipx install roku
pipx install rokucli

The executable will end up in ~/.local/bin/roku and it executes fine

Did you experience an error reading "Unable to communicate with roku at ....." after getting the script to run? I followed your instructions and it worked, but it can't find any of my TVs, but it will connect if I enter IP manually, but still can't control them.
