Check GoToSocial compatibity

I am able to log in and authorize the app (Tooty), but now I get an orange popup with the header HTTP 200 : Failed decoding JSON: followed by a very large array in JSON format which appears to be a Fediverse timeline. I would provide a pastebin, but apparently it contains NSFW content. At the bottom of this long JSON document it says Expecting null. I suspect this may be a problem with GoToSocial, which perhaps encodes JSON in some way that is incompatible with Tooty.

Works perfectly with my Mastodon account, though. My compliments to the chef!

Ok it looks like it was the edited_at field that should have been optional. It's working on the local timeline that don't use websockets.

For the other timelines, websockets are used and Tooty is unable to connect to you server using websockets. Are you sure everything is setup as it should on your side? Cf https://docs.gotosocial.org/en/latest/getting_started/reverse_proxy/websocket/

I'm also experiencing issues with Tooty connecting to gotosocial. I see that part of the problem is gotosocial is responding with a 301 Redirect on websocket connect.

Tooty requests:
wss://example.com/api/v1/streaming/?access_token=XX&stream=public

Gotosocial responds: 301 Redirect removing the / before the ?:
wss://example.com/api/v1/streaming?access_token=XX&stream=public

I'm async looking into the mastodon spec to see how 301s should be handled, and whether or not the / should or shouldn't be allowed, so we might figure out which layer should fix this.

Edit: It looks like NodeJS Websocket frameworks don't handle the 301 Redirect - I'm not sure which Tooty is using - so I think the actual solution would be to address this in gotosocial such that it handles that route without responding with a redirect.

Edit2: Actually, https://docs.joinmastodon.org/methods/streaming/#websocket says the request should be to /streaming? (no trailing /), so I think this is a Tooty bug.

I've got GoToSocial and Tooty working when I applied these two patches locally:

1. In Tooty: fix: Remove trailing slash from streaming vjousse/elm-mastodon-tooty#12

2. In GoToSocial: https://github.com/superseriousbusiness/gotosocial/pull/3746

Both need to be merged for page loading and websockets to work between these two projects.
