Description:
Allow users to add multimedia elements such as images, videos, and audio files in quizzes and polls.

Tasks:

• Implement multimedia model to store file metadata.
• Create routes to upload, retrieve, and delete multimedia files.
• Integrate multimedia support in quiz and poll creation for attaching media files.

Dependencies:

• Quiz Management (Issue 2) and Polls (Issue 3) for integrating multimedia with quiz/poll creation.

Guidelines for Assignee:

PROPOSED PLAN:

We need a model that can handle different types of media files (e.g., images, videos, and audio files). The model should store metadata about these files, such as their type, size, and location.

File Upload Logic:

We need backend logic to handle the file upload process, including validation, storing files, and returning a response with relevant information.

I would like to take on this task to implement multimedia support in quizzes and polls. I have experience handling file uploads and can implement this feature using one of the following approaches:

Local Storage:
I can set up a local storage solution using the multer library to handle file uploads and store them in a designated folder within the server. This would involve creating the multimedia model to store file metadata and serving the files from the server directory.

Cloud Storage (e.g., Cloudinary):
Alternatively, I can integrate Cloudinary for storing and managing multimedia files. Cloudinary offers powerful features like automatic image optimization, video processing, and URL-based transformations, making it ideal for production environments. This approach would require setting up Cloudinary SDK, creating upload logic using Cloudinary’s API, and storing file URLs and metadata in the multimedia model.

@Angee-web , Thanks for showing interest in contributing.

I would prefer the later approach (Cloudinary), reason being local storage in EC2 is not scalabale and expensive at the same time. Better to have a seperate storage for the static files.

How do you plan on integrating with the current quiz model supposed to be resolved #21 here ? Please discuss the approach before starting to implement.
