How to emphasize a single word in a paragraph as you did in txt2man.1

I would like to emphasize a single word in a paragraph as you have done in the official txt2man.1 manpage:

If input file ifile is omitted, standard input is used. Result is displayed on standard output.

[thmo]

ifile is emphasized because it appears as a parameter in the synopsis.

I don't think it is possible to format a single word somewhere in a paragraph in bold, see also #34.
