The tool doesn't recognize chat participants

From the information given, it is impossible for me to analyse the root cause. Have you exported multiple chats and get the same error for each of them? Can you create a "test chat" for example by chatting with Meta AI and send me an export of this one? Or just copy two lines from a chat txt file (from inside the .zip export) and send it to me (you can also modify/reduce the message contents on those lines). Please send by e-mail to software@matlon.ch instead of attaching it here, so it won't be publicly accessible - just in case it still contains personal information.

I found the same, probably it is the same issue (Spanish and other languages using a space between "a. m." p. m."). See #19

Maybe some unicode error causing this? When i open on vscode i see many unicode symbols highlighted by vscode

All the other iOS exports contained a comma between date and time, e.g.

With your region settings, this is not the case.
I fixed the parser (comma optional).
Check out the new version 1.0.4 and let me know if everything works as it should now.

Maybe same error happening for embedding photos because they just show up as messages

When tool creates media folder it creates empty. I copied the media files manualy but no luck.

OK, I see - this is formatted very differently from all the examples I’ve seen in other languages.
Usually, the format is:
a language-specific word like attached, followed by a colon :, followed by the filename, e.g.

In your version, it's the other way around and without a colon, just the filename followed by the word eklendi (obviously meaning "attached" in Turkish):

And by the way: If you have a friend with the same language/region settings, but who has an Android phone: Could you ask him to try the tool as well? Or send you a chat export from his phone and check it yourself and give me a short feedback (or tell me if there are any issues with Turkish Android WhatsApp exports that need to be solved)?

The new version works perfectly fine. Appreciate it. I will try to find someone with android to try it out. If i do will update here. Its weird export settings changes by languages. Whatsapp rushed that feature i think. Also found out the pictures with something written on it just exports as pictures text is not including. Weird they rolled this feature when so much missing.

Great, thanks. Yeah, it's crazy. The format not only differs between iOS and Android, but then also based on the language AND based on the region settings of the device. And yes, there is information missing in the export, e.g.:

• reactions (thumbs up and other emojis that are not a stand-alone message, but created by long tapping a previous message)
• Message relations (in WhatsApp, you can right-swipe a previous message and then write a message in relation to this)
• Chat group metadata (e.g. list of all members, admins, ...)

And of course, they might change the export format any time they want as there is no official specification. So I'm glad it works for you at the moment and I hope it will continue to do so for a long time...

This seems to be an iOS-specific export problem. If you export a chat on an Android device, the text that comes with the picture is included in the .txt file of the export zip...

Here's an example from one of my Android WhatsApp exports:
