Really pleased hearing from you Sir! Apologies for commenting in issues corner because I couldn't get any way connecting with you. I actually Sir have some queries about all the three of them( projects) ... I'm taking it as my final year project for BS computer Science and I want to combine the three of them (MIPS+ALU+FPA). I wanted to ask that 1:why didn't you make them combined, like what complexities could be in doing so. 2: I'd appreciate it if you could provide some insight into the financial investment for the project. The 3 projects are separate because

• Project 1 ALU and 3 MIPS required hardware implementations.
• For 4 bit ALU we had the requirement of using the minimum number of gates possible in our hardware project(decoder, mux and adders were allowed besides basic gates).
• For project 2 we had to implement a 32 bit FPA. This was a software implementation. While implementing in logisim we realized the main difficulty came from scaling the bits from 4 to 32 bits. Most hardware ICs support 4 bits. Moreover, fpa had more components and modules compared to ALU which would make a hardware implementation using ICs difficult.
• For project 3 we required both hardware and software implementation of a MIPS pipeline. The main difficulties would arise in implementing proper clock cycles, proper power distribution across all hardware modules and the inherent complexity of each module of MIPS. Since we did the 4 bit ALU in a previous project we did not need to build an ALU from scratch.
• For simplifying the implementation of 3rd project used we Atmega32 which hanlded the internal logic of each mips pipeline component.

The 3 projects can be combined easily but using 7400 series ICs would make it extremely difficult. It does seem couter intuitive to implement a microprocessor like mips using a micro controller like atmega32. The main focus was simulating each stage of the mips pipeline in the final project and we were allowed to use Atmega32 but not arduino uno or other μc s.

The ALU project has the number of ICs mentioned in the report. Besides that we needed breadboards, 9 V batteries, resistors, switch, leds, breadboard power supply module to regulate voltage to a level of 4-5 V, male to male wires and IC extractor.

For Mips project we used adders, quad 2 by 1 mux, atmega32 and other basic components.

The exact number of ICs are mentioned in their respective reports.
