Potentially not a small lift, but it would be nice to see times of new files added within a folder reflected within the updated at time display for that folder and upstream folders.

Hmm, this has many implications for how tails work in ETLs. Could be done with a second date maybe? Like updated_at, descendants_updated_at?

Yes, I think we don't want to update the 'updated_at' attribute for folders directly for this.

Implementation idea 1: live calculation for the display value via the api
Implementation idea 2: add a 'descendants_updated_at' to the DB that's kept up-to-date, so the pull via the api is simple.
