Ability to play/rip Killer Instinct 1 (1994) audio?

I'm just wondering if this program should be able to play/export the music from Killer Instinct 1? It uses the Midway Digital Compression System (DCS) via a ADSP2150 sound board.

I've tried to figure out how to run it via the roms here but haven't had any luck: https://www.thekillerinstinctproject.com/?p=55

When I try to just use the regular kinst.zip rom I get this:

No file in C:\Users\USER\Desktop\kinst.zip could be identified as ROM U2. You can designate which file contains the U2 image via the --u2= option.

I struggle with command line and anything programming, so I don't know if I am doing something wrong or not.

DCS Explorer is really only meant to cover the WCS-era pinball games (roughly 1993-1998), but it'll also work with video games from the same era, as long as they use the same DCS formats as the pinball games. Williams continued to evolve the DCS technology after the last pinball games, by adding new formats. This program doesn't handle any of the newer formats beyond the ones used in the pinball machines. I don't know about Killer Instinct in particular, but since the decoder is reporting that it can't identify the main sound ROM, this game is probably one of the newer formats that the program can't read.

Like I said I'm not good with command line or understanding it so I might not be using it right. Would it be possible for you to grab the rom/chd at the bottom of the page and give it a shot yourself to make sure?

Does having the chd present matter at all? I was trying without it.

The roms need to be correctly named for DCSExplorer to work with.
Use the attached file: kidcs.zip
You can probably drag-and-drop it on DCSExplorer to play around with it.

You'll need to work with the command prompt in order to dump streams to .wav
But it will be dumped in parts, as the songs are cut up by Rare/Midway in repeating chunks to save rom space.

Best to learn how to use the command prompt. You can probably ask ChatGPT or Grok AI to help you with that.

So I got it running and trying to extract the wavs from it using the following two commands, and it shows it extracts them all, but I have no idea where it's extracting them to, if it all actually.
C:\Users\ME\Desktop\DCSExplorer.exe --extract-tracks=k C:\Users\ME\Desktop\kidcs.zip
C:\Users\ME\Desktop\DCSExplorer.exe --extract-tracks=k C:\Users\ME\Desktop\kidcs.zip

EDIT: Apparently it saves them to the User's main folder. It would be nice to have a switch that allows you to choose that.
