SDK 5.0.3 can't be stopped

The recent SDK 5.0.3 has a bug.

Reproduce steps:

1. Create a configuration with valid parameters.
2. Start the SDK, providing the configuration above and a callback.
3. Stop the SDK in a few seconds.
4. Look at the logs, the SDK callback keeps triggering periodically.

Even worse, if start the SDK again, the callback messages will be triggered x2, x3 etc. more times.
