Can I send a null value for a CrawlStreamBit to keep the connector alive?

Hi,

I'd like to keep the connector running after the main content items have completed. If I simply keep sending a null CrawlStreamBit as a response will it just keep 'pinging' the agent to let it's still alive or is that generally a bad thing? I'd like to perform some post processing (create external groups, etc.) after the main items have completed.
