I've been having this issue for a while as well, and I think I may have found a potential reason for it.

Looking at the vscode WebView it seems to be created fine and has permissions, but webviewComm creates an iframe that isn't sandboxed or allows anything so in the dev tools you can see that clipboard-write and clipboard-read are not allowed which would prevent copying from the iframe I believe that this is the issue.

I'll look into building this package locally and testing it myself as I don't think you can live edit an iframe allow or at least it wasn't working for me. Haven't really considered the security implications of this so would like to know if this would be an issue?
