I encountered the same problem myself today. It appears that when a terminal window is launched from e.g. the Start Menu, it uses the default profile for that first window, then obeys the respective specialized profile for subsequent tabs in that window that you open yourself. To work around this I changed the cursor choice on the default profile as well and now I'm always getting my preferred cursor instead of the OOB default. |

I have changed the configuration for the cursor shape from the standard | to the block. However, this setting is not always honored.
As far as I can see it, the problem occurs when I open the initial shell. The consecutive shell windows are having the correct cursor shape.
