Now running a full client within the app is probably a lot, but there is https://github.com/open-webui/mcpo

And then you would only need to support http requests to the mcpo server

Home Assistant already has an integration to make mcp tools available to LLMs in Home Assistant. I don't know that custom-conversation will support those at the moment, but that's the route I think would make the most sense to pursue, because then users wouldn't have to reconfigure MCP servers when they change conversation agents.
