malt-webview not building

I tried building malt on 2 other platforms, but malt-webview and malt-passwd are not being built. I ran

cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/path/to/install/malt/gcc-12.3.0 -DWEBVIEW_SERVER=CPP

and then ran

make -j install

But I don't see the executables malt-webview and malt-passwd in my build directory. This was using repo with tag v1.4.1.

When building, does it try to connect to the internet to grab anything? If unable to connect, does it then not build malt-webview? Is there a way to download all needed dependencies so that it doesn't attempt to connect to the internet?

Have you tried branch next ?

If you pulled the git repo, this is probably because you don't have nodejs and npm installed so it don't build the webview.

Can you output the summary at the end of execution of cmake ?

Sorry I forget to answer your last question.

Yes two ways :

1. Download the official release tar.bz2 so it already contains al the necessary files which are not embedded in the git repo.
2. On some workstation run ./prepare.sh and make a tarball of your directory to use on a machine you don't want it connect to the web.

If it can't connect and not have the deps locally, it should just fail with an error in principle.

Yes, correct, I don't have npm or nodejs. but if I'm building the CPP version of malt-webview, I shouldn't need these, correct?

I tried downloading malt-1.4.1.tar.bz2 as well and building that, but still no malt-webview.

If down to OFF all the time if it is not AUTO.

some progress! able to build malt-webview, but build doesn't completely finish. get error when building target malt-trace-reader because it's trying to fetch js dependencies, but npm is not there. can I skip malt-trace-reader? what is the tool for?
