Could this server optionally download alternate firmware?

It appears that the plugs will self-update, if the server to which they connect offers one.
Would it be feasible to have this module provide its own impersonated firmware 'update' but with the updated firmware being (e.g.) TasmOTA?
That would make this a convenient no-soldering-required way to replace whatever is the factory stuff with something open.

It's been a long time, and I have long since given up on using them as-shipped and just flashed my own firmware onto it. So I have no sample packets. Sorry.

That would be cool; last I heard for these that required breaking them open and you would lose power usage monitoring, has that changed?

Not to my knowledge, I'm no longer following this thread. I didn't care about monitoring the power usage, just wanted a switch I could control over MQTT.
