Localization not working on latest stable Mattermost

On the latest stable Mattermost release the demo plugin strings are always in English language; no matter what language settings are applied the strings won't show up in Espanol. I've built dist from master.

May I know if there are any plans on tackling this issue any time soon? I just want to get at least, a rough timeline on the fix to share the information to other users who run into the same problem. Thanks.

I spend some Mana looking into this issue. My findings are:

• The translations are correctly merge with the Mattermost ones.
• They are correctly update on a plugin re-load.
• But components don't pick them up when rendering.
• This might be caused by a mismatch of react-intl. The webapp uses v5 and the plugin v2. I unsuccessfully tried to update the version of the plugin to v5.
• git bisecting the issue failed to to a long version history (Feature was introduced >2 years ago) and build issues resulting from that.

Given that i18n support for (webapp) plugins is only utilized in this plugin and has probably broken for some time, I stopped by investigation. Please also note that the plugin framework is not a priority for the team right now.

Hence, I'm going to make this ticket available for someone else to pick up.

@DHaussermann Do you know if i18n support for this plugin is tested as part of the (mattermost) release process? If so, do you know since when this feature is broken?
