If everything happened over the database (a very old thought, admittedly) then to have a decentralized talker all we would need would be to point to a decentralized database instead of a local one.

https://github.com/cmars/ddcp might be the solution for that - not only in terms of having a decentralized database, but already having it published at / running over a decentralized network (veilid).
