Issue with Nudge Prompting Major Update (15.7 → 26.0)

We are experiencing an issue with Nudge prompting us to install a major update (from version 15.7 to 26.0).

When users click “Update Device” or “Check for Updates”, no update options are presented. This prevents the update process from proceeding.

Steps to Reproduce:

Receive a Nudge prompt to install the update.

Click on Update Device or Check for Updates.

Nothing happens—no updates are listed or initiated.

Impact:

Users cannot update from 17.7 to 26.0 as required.

Nudge has nothing to do with what you see in Software updates. That is managed by your Software Deferral settings.

Do you want your users to be able to upgrade to Tahoe or are you blocking it?

I guess it depends on what you want:

If you want to be able to upgrade to 26, you need to ensure you don’t have an update deferral in place. You’re not seeing it because the machine has some sort of deferral.

If you want to keep people on 15, I’d change the required minimum to latest-minor and set the targetedOS to default or 15.

As @Tribruin mentioned, Nudge doesn’t manage your updates or bailable updates, it just nudges people to update based on your settings.

Our Nudge configuration has been unchanged since implementation (over a year ago) and is consistent across all users. Up until recently it has always worked as expected—prompting for updates with the correct dates, without issue.

The problem we’re seeing now is affecting only some users, not all. There are no blocking mechanisms in place; updates should be available at all times.

As part of troubleshooting, I fully removed Nudge using the following cleanup steps:

Removed the Nudge app

Removed all associated LaunchAgents and LaunchDaemons

Cleared both user and system plist files

Removed the .mobileconfig from the test machine

Despite this, the issue persists on the affected machines, no updates are presented.

Nudge is not causing the update to not show up. A software update deferral is. You can tell because the screen shot says it's being controlled by the organization policy.

Check your config profiles for software update delays.

You do not need to change the Nudge config, you can actually ignore my previous suggestion.

Sorry to ask what may be an obvious question, but is the hardware compatible with Tahoe?
