Stuck after "Waiting for Surgeon to come up...Done!"

I have a leapster explorer booted properly, Im on gentoo and when I run sshflash then it gets stuck at Waiting for Surgeon to come up...Done!. What do I do after this

it took a while but after it said ssh: connect to host 169.254.8.1 port 22: Connection timed out

I tried it on my laptop with fedora installed and it worked fine

Are you using the latest version of Retroleap? I've successfully flashed Leapster Explorer using sshflash-2.0-alpha4 and retroleap_v2.0.0-alpha10 just by copying Retroleap files and running ./remote_flash.sh.
