kernel level hangup when opening a .v file #21

@toolateralus

Description

@toolateralus

using manjaro & KDE plasma, latest version of zed available on yay/pacman at the time of writing this.

Steps to reproduce:

  • install the extension.

  • open a main.v file or something, have a basic main function present.

  • The system will completely hangup indefinitely. I have to force power-off my machine by holding the power button.

Sorry if this is a horrible and vague issue to submit, i'd be happy to follow up with any relevant information. I just don't even know what to offer in regards to supporting information.

I was able to use the extension for probably half an hour before this started happening, Now i've tried system updates, reinstalling zed, reinstalling the extension, etc, and it's the same result.

I would use the vscode extension with vls but it just doesn't work lol.

Since I can't even enter a tty mode, and I lose all inputs, I assume it's possible it's somehow just my system, and I'm going to keep exploring things related to that.

Sorry again if this is a terrible issue, just hoping someone has an idea of what's going on here.

update: I freshly reinstalled manjaro and it's still happening in a basically bare environment. Unless it's a bug in the kernel, it's clearly a bad interaction between my system and the extension in zed. The hangup does not happen when I don't have the extension enabled.
