Purpose

The site should have a purpose or end goal etc.

I originally got the idea for the site when thinking about a few things.

1. There awesome longboarding community in Köln Germany. Well established, and completely run from Facebook and the local longboard & coffee shop: concretewave.de.
2. Some guys on the facebook longboard.halifax wanted to create an event. Which requires permits, sponsors and all kinds of other crap.
3. Greenskate Köln, and the Greenskate.org
4. Critical Mass. (not longboarding, but awesome)
5. Which reminded me that Halifax has an awesome cycling community. Although from personal experience the roads are terrifyingly dangerous for those not in an automobile.
6. www.cyclehalifax.ca. They have organized. Started talking to HRM and making the streets safer for alternative, green, means of transportation. They promote safety, and they have the support of the HRM and now, but not in the beginning, the police.
7. It was cyclehalifax that made me decide to buy the domain. But I liked hfx better because longboard is already long.

longboardhalifax.com, longboardhalifax.ca and a few others all end up at longboardhfx.ca.
But I didn't purchase the other domains for as long as longboardhfx.

it's a good idea, and a sweet domain. longboardhfx is certainly the correct
choice in domain names out of those.

we can slowly spiff it up, i dunno what kind of community we'll find, i see
lots of longboarders around town though these days.
