UV Support

We (Pacific Fusion) are seeing the following on install:

$ mkdir fudge_test && cd fudge_test
$ uv init
$ uv add git+https://github.com/LLNL/fudge.git
Updated https://github.com/LLNL/fudge.git (aff0178)
error: Build backend failed to determine requirements with build_wheel() (exit status: 1)

Install numpy>=1.15 before installing FUDGE

Any plans on adding uv capability in the near future? Including @edran on this issue as well.

To add to Gary's comment -- we'd be happy to make a patch that adds uv support, but it'd be great to get some pointers on how best to move forward (or even how you'd like the patch to look like generally).

Thanks for reporting this! I just found out about uv last week. I made some progress supporting uv add, but it's currently missing two executables (merced and calcUpScatterKernel) that are required for multigroup processing.

'uv add' should be working now for everything except the two executables mentioned above. The fix is on the 'training' branch:

uv add git+https://github.com/LLNL/fudge.git --branch training

We're still working on those two executables, trouble is that uv add seems to ignore the CustomInstall class from the top-level setup.py.
