Preselect checkboxes and multiselect without pressing ctrl tab

tell me one thing if i have to pre select the checkbox , what i need to do and one more thing, i have to press ctrl for multipule select what i have to do that i don't have to press ctrl and automatically it can multipule select

Adjust the selection after you have set the ListModel

 JList list = ...;
 list.setModel(listModel);

 ListSelectionModel selectionModel = list.getSelectionModel();
 selectionModel.addSelectionInterval(1, 2); // Select element 1 to 2

I usually don't want to use indices for the selection. I want to use the model elements instead. Thus I usually write a simple adapter like this one

class ListElementSelection<E> {

	private ListSelectionModel listSelectionModel;
	private ListModel<E> listModel;

	public ListElementSelection(ListModel<E> listModel, ListSelectionModel listSelectionModel) {
		this.listModel = listModel;
		this.listSelectionModel = listSelectionModel;
	}

	public void setSelection(E... selectedElements) {
		listSelectionModel.setValueIsAdjusting(true);
		try {
			listSelectionModel.clearSelection();

			List<E> selectedElementList = Arrays.asList(selectedElements);

			for (int i = 0; i < listModel.getSize(); i++) {
				E elementAt = listModel.getElementAt(i);
				if (selectedElementList.contains(elementAt)) {
					listSelectionModel.addSelectionInterval(i, i);
				}
			}

		} finally {
			listSelectionModel.setValueIsAdjusting(false);

Then it is easy to use

ListElementSelection<String> listElementSelection = new ListElementSelection(listModel, selectionModel);
listElementSelection.setSelection("Element 1", "Element 2");

That's true and unfortunately I have no easy solution for you. The problem is that the behavior is hard coded in the BasicListUI. So you have to implement your own ListUI.

By SetSelection u mean to say, it will be checked. coz i tried this code , it is not happening.

It's hard to say why it is not working for you without code. But ensure that the model instances used by the ListElementSelection are the SAME as the ones that the JList uses. Maybe the bug can be found there. Otherwise first try to select the items using the first approach

I tried to do this, by selecting first and second indices, but it didn't work out for me..

Here i am trying to default select "POS80", on load.. but it's not worked out.
