Update the readme

I just landed into this project from a google search. It should be related to my needs, but
the readme is a bit cryptic. Namely there is only requirements for installation, not notes
on what it does and on what environments it does it.

I would be nice to know at minimum:

• Is it a plugin/component for an other project?
• What is the scope of this repo?

So the ISSUE and request will be:

• update the readme file to:
  -- Point to any original project
  -- Give details of what this is for
