Export as Word document loses formatting on links

Having thr following markdown

You see two doors.
*Do you choose the right one [10] or the wrong one [20]*

should result in italic text, however in the final docx document, the italic is removed from the numbers, resulting in:

You see two doors.
Do you choose the right one 10 or the wrong one 20

where 10 and 20 are normal-styled text.

This could be common to export as LibreOffice too but I haven't verified.
