February Changes

Recent changes to the project include:

• Rename to Coppy
• Connect docs to GH Wiki, improve docs especially around Mise/uv integration
• Move to src based project
• Sandbox uv/mise usage during tests to avoid contamination from/to developer's mise/uv settings
• Demo task: couple updates to make it easier to iterate on the template by repeatedly re-running the demo
• Test additions / refactoring

Changes visible in downstream projects:

• Fixed .gitignore for terraform is too aggressive #20
• Fully embrace uv, remove reqs, and related
  • Move Python spec from mise.toml to .python-version
  • Use pyproject.toml for python deps
  • NOTE the use of dependency groups in pyproject.toml. It will affect your uv add --dev usage.
  • Use uv.lock instead of compiled .txt files
  • Remove pipx refs and related
  • Nox: use uv for deps
  • Mise venv location customization option w/ PROJECT_SLUG & UV_PROJECT_ENVIRONMENT
• Mise tasks are now in ./tasks instead of ./mise-tasks
• Creation of coppy update cli tool for updating a project instead of relying on the in-project hatch run copier:update
• Updated pre-commit versions and use pre-commit-uv to speed up pre-commit actions

Downstream Project Upgrade

• You will need copier and the coppy CLI utility installed at the host level. See Host Prep.
• Decide on where you want your venvs stored and adjust user mise config if necessary.
• Update the project
• Review git diff
• Resolve conflicts
• Move dependencies from .in files to pyproject.toml. uv add ... and uv add --dev and uv add --group may be helpful.
• Ensure all tasks got moved from mise-tasks to tasks correctly
• If you are using mise to activate the virtualenv it's possible it didn't register the mise.toml change, change out of the directory and back in and ensure the virtualenv is where you expect it to be printenv VIRTUAL_ENV.
• Run: uv sync
• Run: `nox
