Is your proposal related to a problem?

It is often interesting to measure time series at a single point in space.

Describe the solution you'd like

A reporter that calculates the observables at a point (x,y,z) in space and writes it to a file is more efficient than vtk-export for example.

The reporter should be provided with coordinates of the point and an interval (each how many time steps to get and report data).

Do consider waiting times when writing to disk. It may be beneficial to write multiple timesteps to memory before writing the buffer to a file

That's very true. Maybe the user should add the "buffer size" (number of time steps?), when initializing the reporter.
