Is your proposal related to a problem?

starting the simulation from standing still (u=0, p=1) can result in shocks and non-physical waves, when the inlet boundary conditon starts with full amplitude at t=0.

Describe the solution you'd like

Gradually increasing it from u(t=0)=0 to u(t=t_ramped)=u_full will smoothen the time period between initialization and convergence.

Describe alternatives you've considered

Depending on the reason a simulation has problems to come to a converged state, temporally increasing the viscosity could be an option too...
