xinput controller not working with Felix.

I check the video game controller properties (using Windows 10 64bit) and all the buttons are working. But in the emulator when I try to map the controls the emulator does not recognize the button presses.

I use Autohotkey to map joystick buttons to keyboard keys.
For example Jaguar pad:

Joy1::
Send {y down} ; Hold down the left-arrow key.
KeyWait Joy2 ; Wait for the user to release the controller button.
Send {y up} ; Release the left-arrow key.

; Jag-b
Joy2::
Send {x down} ; Hold down the left-arrow key.

Autohotkey solution is a marginal workaround.
This looks like a great emulator....it is REALLY being held back by lack of xinput support though.
Something as basic as that should have been in there working correctly a long time ago.

If that were implemented, this emulator EASILY goes to the top of the go-to standalone list for the Atari Lynx platform.

Actually there IS gamepad support since November 2021: 7a42c5b
I've plugged gamepad just now and it still works....
Although while I was testing it I've spotted that controls in Batman Returns are reversed, strange, I must look into it.

So @goodstuff626 and @Tino-Medina how are you guys testing it? Are your gamepads really working in XInput mode? Have you checked it in https://hardwaretester.com/gamepad for example?

They are indeed reversed. There must be some subtle bug there as it works in most games.

Yessir...using PC Xbox One controllers, it seems the directions ARE reversed and the input option menu won't allow to change any of the mapped buttons, including the directions.

Some controllers, guess you can call them legacy ones, such as the Brawler ones, Felix doesn't recognize at all.

I tested this out on Ms. Pac Man.

I do see where you opened an issue thread on it though.

Like I said, your emulator for Lynx looks and plays very, very good.
Even not having other bells n whistles like shaders or resolution options, the emu would still be number one in Lynx emulation if it could get the xinput working correctly.

When I reread the issues initial description it's indeed not about the gamepad not working at all, bit rather that it can't be remapped - it can't, there is no such functionality at the moment.
Nevetheless I'll investigate why the directions are reversed first and after that I'll think about remapping of gamepad buttons.
