Unable to add student progress

Following the instructions in the user guide, I am unable to add progress to the student. I tried selecting index followed by copying the same command from the user guide and it gave me "Please enter the progress description". I also tried skipping the index command and simply doing the second step but it gave me "Please enter the correct command." On using the view command, there is no student progress to view.

he input should be 1-Can swim breaststrike.
There should not be spacing in the input. Perhaps I could be clearer in UG.
