Implement auto-release, or document "use HEAD" dep?

Given there are so few commits to this repo, I'm wondering if it makes sense for most users to depend on the HEAD / latest version of this repo in one of a couple ways:

• we automate making a new NPM package that auto-pushes to the latest NPM tag.
• we document how to depend on the repo directly (using https://docs.npmjs.com/cli/v10/configuring-npm/package-json#github-urls)

Thoughts?

No preference. Probably documenting how to depend on the repo directly is the least hassle (and doesn't involve needing to add and remove people as NPM maintainers.)

I admit I feel a little nervous about auto-release. Maybe hold off on automation and do the docs thing?

I'm now leaning towards autorelease, since Node 14 doesn't support direct GitHub deps in package.json.

I don't have that strong of an opinion. I mean, this package is basically "done" so hopefully we wouldn't need that many more releases anyway...
