optimizer prerequisites

Some items to think about:

• preserve state/backup of optical system (deep/shallow clone, copy-on-write,...)
• optimizer communication architecture? (e.g allow concatenation of optimizers with pipe&filter?)
• merge multiconf and optimization into same approach
• some kind of obvious interface? for read-only system/full access when defining meritfunction/updatefunction
