some tweaks are required on the server to exceed default settings/limitations..
these blog posts explain how to enable large quantities of real-time concurrent connections.
i need to include some documentation that summarizes and credits caustik for publishing these high-load EC2 experiments. Probably add a "server performance" section to the README.md that is distributed with a beta release.
