Description

Execute the first real alloy synthesis based on model recommendations to close the loop and validate the entire system.

Tasks

  • Run model to generate top 10 candidate alloys
  • Select highest-confidence, highest-priority candidate
  • Review with metallurgist: does this make sense?
  • Obtain materials (check availability and cost)
  • Follow synthesis procedure from CSV export:
    • Weigh out feedstock masses exactly as specified
    • Use recommended method (arc melting, furnace, etc.)
    • Follow temperature and atmosphere specifications
    • Document time and actual cost
  • Characterize result (XRD, SEM, hardness test, etc.)
  • Log outcome in system:
    • Success/Partial/Failed
    • Notes on what happened
    • Deviations from plan
  • Compare predicted vs actual outcome
  • Document lessons learned

Acceptance Criteria

  • At least one alloy is physically synthesized
  • Outcome (success or failure) is logged
  • Experience informs model improvements
  • Documentation captures the full experiment
  • Team has confidence in using system for future experiments

Estimate: 4-8 hours (actual lab work)
