Right now the tool just tracks what's happening, and gives stats on how much time each player has played. But it doesn't suggest a balanced plan. I tend to do that via spreadsheet before the game starts, but it takes a lot of manual work, and depends on knowing in advance which players will show up. If there's an injury during the game, the plan falls apart, at least in terms of fairness.

An experienced human coach just works intuitively, and produces a decent result but inevitably cannot really balance time played, or making sure each player gets to play the positions they want.

A better planning infrastructure could handle any of these changes before or during the game, producing the best possible outcome balancing playing time and getting players a fair amount of time at the positions they prefer.
