Access to Engine.Broadcast()

I know that you can broadcast to all other sockets with socket.Broadcast(), but the socket reference is only available within a request.
Say I would like to broadcast a message from a cron (server side process/goroutine), without any reference to any socket, like Engine.Broadcast() - how would I do this?

Do you not have a reference to the Engine anywhere?
