UMAP speed benchmarks?

Hello, I use the UMAP python library and was wondering if y'all have done any benchmarks to see which is faster? Also, it would be cool to know if both implementations produce the exact same results all else being equal. I use UMAP for work, so if the Rust version of UMAP is significantly faster, I can help make python bindings for annembed

Hi @JustinMBrown, Python bindings is finally out: https://pypi.org/project/annembed-rs/, usage can be found in this repo. No, the result is not the same with UMAP, annembed is a new algorithm with performance in mind and innovatively combined t-SNE with UMAP, FYI the paper is out here: https://academic.oup.com/nargab/article/6/4/lqae172/7928174, we explained why UMAP is more compacted and this has been criticized by many papers that the UMAP add too many focus on the attractive force in the loss function: https://proceedings.neurips.cc/paper/2021/file/2de5d16682c3c35007e4e92982f1a2ba-Paper.pdf, which should be corrected.
