Sanitize knob strings #18
Description
This is a general area of improvement. Sknobs should be robust in the presence of knob strings with things like unmatched block comments, newlines, etc., or such problematic content should be fixed/deleted/escaped/exception-causing.
This was noticed through the behavior of loading in the shell environment variables as knobs. One environment variable had a large multi-line text value with arbitrary content. So one action is to see that multi-line knob strings are handled correctly through all handling, such as saving and loading.
