Not possible to change the looks of an avatar after creating it

It would be very nice to be able to change the figure/look of avatars on the fly. Afaik this is currently not possible and my workaround thus far has been to remove the avatar and add a new one with the new look whenever a user changes their clothes. This looks janky if they do it while moving.
