Queue size and oldest message?

To put Propono in the environment I’d like with the monitoring I need, I’d like to be able to get the current size of the queue as well as the age of the oldest message. I don’t see that in the current api... I can look at adding it, but I was wondering if you thought there was a technical limitation why these weren’t there yet.

Hi David.

No technical limitation. We measure metrics such as these in our source-of-truth database. Example: We can see how many videos in our video pipeline are marked as needing processed, rather than looking at the length of the SQS queue.

Beware that with SQS fetching the first message to see it's age will remove it from the queue until it's visibility timeout has expired. Visibility timeout on a single message can be reset, putting it back in the queue for other listeners to pick it up.

A pull request implementing your suggestions would be considered.
