For the next steps, please document via Issues the changes that you are doing. Link them to the code if necessary as well as to the source documents you are using to make the changes. In addition, it would be great to provide examples. Answer to this issue with how you agreed to do this.

Hi @igrangel! That's a very reasonable issue, and I am currently thinking about this. Context: version 2.0.1 (or 2.1.0, depends on the upcoming discussions) is in the pipeline. I'd like to use a new branch for for it version/2.0.1 or similar.
Let me insert the latest discussion points, and then have a talk about them. The other serialization providers (XML and JSON) also use Github by now, so documenting everything here is certainly a good idea.
