It's doing some strange observes calls and attempting to parse our commit urls which get faked out.
I think this originally added to fix a bug report about the Preview tab with sha's were included, but I think this could be revisited and possibly rethought.
Perhaps using the GH API endpoint for markdown https://developer.github.com/v3/markdown/
