In Option 1, the If statement at the end is testing the variable index.
I believe it needs to test the variable choiceIndex.

I did a bit of digging and found a couple breadcrumbs you may want to add to your documentation on PopupInput().

found the following in files using PopupInput().

render_options={left_icon=true, number=true},

The props table was a variable being used to feed values to properties
props["Popup.ItemSize"] = "80";

and I found the following add_args entry in a few places
FilterDefaultVisible="Yes"
