I tried running on your solution on my local and I keep getting this error:
z = z * pow(10 ,(xl-zl))
TypeError: can't multiply sequence by non-int of type 'float'

shouldnt 'z' be an integer and not float?

z is a string here not float.
Though the error is correct. The part... pow(10 ,(xl-zl)) should be int i.e. int(pow(10 ,(xl-zl))) because you cannot multiply the sequence with a float value.
