How to have certain posts not show up in main page feed

I am trying to figure out how to make certain docs not show up on the main homepage when being created. For example my site is at :

http://rootandbeer.github.io

The posts Host Discovery and Port Scanning are both in the docs (i have it named hacknotes). I do not want them to populate the mainpage. Is there frontmatter that can be set to true or false for this? I have featured and pinned set to false. But don't see any other options that would have these not populate the main page. I tried changing index.md to _index.md which worked, however i lost the generated TOC on the right side when doing this, so i reverted back.

Remove the docs from the main_sections, in your case, https://github.com/rootandbeer/rootandbeer.github.io/blob/d8111958164b5819b3ca45a7c1be5ba4417e627f/config/_default/params.yaml#L89-L90
