Question on the use of multifactor #50

Hi, I have more of a question than an issue.
I have a dataset constituted of 15 consecutive generations, 1 sample per generation. I would like to test the effect of generation, while correcting for the number of individual in each sample, the sequencing batch ... (some technical stuff basically).
Can I put 'generation' (a column in the design matrix with 1 to 15) in the multifactor model? How will it take this continuous factor into account?
